| Q: |
What
is a CLAYme or Customized Wedding Cake Topper? |
| A: |
CLAYme's
and Customized Wedding Cake Toppers are character representation
of people, pets and objects. When you place an order, you
provide us with photos and information about the person(s)
being sculpted and you will receive a one-of-a-kind hand sculpted
custom piece of artwork made of Polymer Clay. |
|
|
| Q: |
Who
would like to receive a CLAYme, Customized Topper or ornament? |
| A: |
Well,
virtually everyone -- they make great gifts for Adults of
any age to cherished memories for children and they will be
the talk of the party, event or family and friends. Whether
it's for Weddings, Showers, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Graduations,
Pet Memorials, Retirement, Promotions, A Thank You or any
other special occasion, it deserves a CLAYme, Customized Cake
Topper or Ornament. |
|
| Q: |
Will
the figure look exactly like me? |
| A: |
Hoss
Studio figures are not intended to be portraits but representations
and the bodies and props will be cartoonish in style. Hair,
eyes and skin color are not guaranteed to match perfectly
but we try to get as close as we can with the information
provided by customers. |
|
|
| Q: |
How
do I order a CLAYme or Customized Cake Topper? |
| A: |
Please
contact us via e-mail
or phone to assure availability. A 50% deposit or payment
in full is required to hold your due date and to start your
project. Fill out the appropriate order
form and send it in with your photos. |
|
|
| Q: |
Can
you make a CLAYme into an ornament? |
| A: |
Unfortunately
we can not make a CLAYme into a ornament, they simply are
to heavy and if they were to take a fall more than likely
it would brake. |
|
|
| Q: |
Can
I submit photos and have a customized ornament made of a person
I know? |
| A: |
Customized
ornaments are caricature representations of people, objects
and animals, so photos are welcome. Although please keep in
mind they are not meant to be replicas, portraits or sculptures
(visit the CLAYme section for a more
detailed sculpture). For instance if you sent in photos of
a person you know and wanted them holding a birthday cake,
the ornament may have the same hair color, eye color, glasses,
mustache, a business logo, etc. but the actual face will be
more generic... visit customized ornaments
to see samples. |
|
|
| Q: |
How
long does it take to complete a project? |
| A: |
Please
reserve your CLAYme/Topper at least three months in advance,
orders are accepted on a first come first serve basis. We
also know sometimes this time frame just isn't possible (maybe
you just found our site). If you need a project completed
in a shorter time frame please e-mail
or call us and we will do our best to accommodate your time
frame. |
|
|
| Q: |
Why
do I get voice messaging when I call Hoss Studio? |
| A: |
To
be honest, I am a one man show (with some help from my wife)
but there are times when I am working on projects and not
able to answer incoming calls. Your call is very important
to me and the best way to contact me is through e-mail
or I encourage you to please leave a message I will
return your call. |
|
|

much does a CLAYme, Wedding Cake Topper, or Customized Ornament

page and scroll down to the pricing category. |
|
|
| Q: |
How
will my sculpture look? |
| A: |
When
placing your order please be as specific as possible as to
your scenario, we will do our best to follow your scenario
but in some cases alterations must be made because of space
issues. |
|
|
| Q: |

you accept credit cards? |
| A: |

|
| Q: |
Do
the photos we send in for a wedding cake topper need to be
of the bride and groom wearing their wedding attire? |
| A: |
No,
the photos you send do not need to be of the bride and groom
in their wedding attire. The photos can be separate, you may
have the photos of the wedding dress and tux clipped out of
a magazine this will work just fine. Because of the detail
and differences in wedding dresses it is requested that the
photo(s) you send of the dress is with someone wearing it
and not just hanging on a hanger. |
|
| Q: |
What
if I want a figure of a person who is deceased or not available
to take additional photos of and I only have a couple of pictures? |
| A: |
I
can still work with your photos, but please be aware that
if you supply only front view photos I will be guessing as
to what their profile may be. Therefore the likeness will
depend on the quality of the pictures available. |
|
| Q: |
Do
I need to do anything special to the cake? |
| A: |
In
most cases a topper weighs less than a layer of cake. To support
the layers your decorator usually will put dowels in each
layer to support the next layer. The same procedure will apply
to the top layer that supports the topper. Have a cake plate
put onto the top layer to set your topper on, do not set it
directly on the icing. |
|
| Q: |
Can
you e-mail me pictures of my Topper/CLAYme while it's being
sculpted? |
| A: |
Sorry
but no. This takes up a lot of extra time and photos do not
do the sculptures justice, however I will take pictures of
it once it is finished and post them on the Hoss Studio website
but this usually happens after you have already received your
sculpture since it is shipped out next day delivery. |
|
|
| Q: |
Will
you ship outside the US? |
| A: |
This
is on a project by project basis, shipping is paid for by
the customer and it usually ends up ultimately being the customers
decision after we find out what shipping costs will be. |
|
| Q: |
How
do sculptures get shipped? |
| A: |
In
most cases Federal Express, next day delivery. |
|
| Q: |
What
if something is broken when it arrives? |
| A: |
Contact
me immediately. If it is simply a piece that got knocked loose
do to rough handling you may be able to re-glue it. If it
is worse, please make a claim with the shipper. |
|
| Q: |
Are
the figures fragile? |
| A: |
Yes.
Although polymer clay is strong once it is baked, thin pieces
will remain slightly flexible and brake easily. |
